Managing Squad Membership
Squad Leads are responsible for maintaining their squad roster. This guide covers how to add and remove members from your squad.
Who Can Manage Membership?
| Role | Can Add | Can Remove |
|---|---|---|
| Squad Lead | ✅ Own squad | ✅ Own squad |
| Safety Leadership | ✅ Any squad | ✅ Any squad |
| Org Admin | ✅ Any squad | ✅ Any squad |
Viewing Your Squad Roster
- Navigate to Squads or your Squad Management page.
- Select your squad from the list.
- The member list displays all current squad members.
Adding a Member
- Open your squad’s management page.
- Click Add Member (or the + button).
- Search for the member by name.
- Select the member from the results.
- Choose their squad role (if applicable).
- Click Add to confirm.
Only Active members can be added to squads. Reserve and LOA members must be manually assigned to individual events.
Removing a Member
- Open your squad’s management page.
- Find the member in the roster.
- Click the Remove (or X) button next to their name.
- Confirm the removal.
Removing a member from a squad also removes their future assignments with that squad.
Automatic Cleanup
When a member’s status changes to any non-Active state:
- They are automatically removed from all squads.
- Their future assignments are automatically deleted.
This prevents coverage gaps from remaining assigned to unavailable members.
Best Practices
Building a Balanced Squad
- Mix Experience Levels — Pair new members with veterans.
- Consider Availability — Know which members travel frequently.
- Cross-Train Posts — Ensure multiple members can cover key positions.
Communication
- Welcome New Members — Introduce them to squad culture and expectations.
- Coordinate Absences — Encourage members to give advance notice.
- Maintain Group Chat — Keep a communication channel for quick coordination.
Coverage Planning
- Identify Backups — Know who on other squads can fill in.
- Monitor Readiness — Watch for members with expiring compliance.
- Plan for Holidays — Adjust expectations during high-absence periods.
Transfers Between Squads
To move a member from one squad to another:
- Remove them from the current squad (or have that Squad Lead do it).
- Add them to the new squad.
Alternatively, an Admin can update squad assignments directly from the member’s profile.
